ALIEN ARTIFACT: We No Longer Need To Ask For Disclosure When Religion And Science Is Giving Us Confirmation

When I attended Contact in the Desert, I had many opportunities to speak candidly with many well-known investigators and experts about my effort to bring forward the idea that extra terrestrial confirmation is taking place, with the data dumps of once classified UFO material and the confident stand from science about the discovery of extra- terrestrial life.

One of the biggest buzz words at the gathering was “soft disclosure” where discoveries from NASA and official positions of the Vatican indicate that the world is slowly being prepared for full disclosure of extra-terrestrials.

However, I confessed that I thought the word disclosure is more of a political pipe dream by certain people who have gone from UFO hobbyists to highly-sought after experts on matters of exobiology.

The way to the truth is through confirmation as disclosure not only includes a declaration by the Military Industrial Complex and the President that for 70 years, they have covered up UFO’s and aliens and have allowed the continued abduction and experiments to happen.

I really don’t think you will get an admission of lies from the government.

Rather than seeking out and exposing the liars, perhaps it is now time to confirm the truth.

Last October, it was revealed the Vatican had a secret that they had uncovered from the estimated 53 miles of books that exist in their library, about our origins and the recent reconstruction of a leather manuscript that had been estimated to be more than 4,000 years old. The manuscript was discovered in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

The most important thing about this manuscript is that it was announced that the ancient scroll was reconstructed and that it contained religious spells as well as colorful depictions of divine and supernatural beings, predating those found in the Book of the Dead manuscripts.

The text has been found on rolls that were created between 2,300 BC and 2,000 BC – from the late Old Kingdom up to the early Middle Kingdom. It contains many new religious texts, including a large pictorial-textual segment from the so-called Book of Two Ways, known from the floorboard decorations of Middle Kingdom coffins, as well as religious spells formulated in the first-person singular, probably intended for recitation by a priest.

The text illustrates a holy place in the stars that is protected by multiple gates and powerful extra-terrestrial guardians. They are said to be supernatural beings with immense magical powers.

Americans spend a huge amount of money on batteries each year, whether that is standard AA or AAA batteries that we all burn through as if they’re going out of fashion, or something more specific like a car or laptop battery.

What would you say if you could learn a simple technique to cut those costs down to a fraction of the price you’re currently paying? Could your household budget benefit from that kind of cost saving from his reconditioning method? Of course!

There are many writers and scholars that believe the ancients based their religious beliefs on appearances in the heavens and the star constellation Cygnus or the Swan.

This is a very important point to ponder and here is why.

For nearly five years, NASA’s Kepler mission measured the brightness of objects within a large area in the direction of the constellations Cygnus and Lyrae. The program’s targets were primarily selected to address the Kepler mission goals of discovering Earth-like planets orbiting other stars. Kepler targeted over 150, 000 stars, primarily with a 30-minute observing cadence, leading to over 2.5-billion data points per year . The Kepler mission’s data processing and identification of transiting planet candidates was done in an automated manner through sophisticated computer algorithms.

One of the goals of the planet finders was to look for errant light or audio transmissions from any of the planets observed in 30 day segments of light curvature.

The Planet Hunters project has now discovered hundreds of exoplanet candidates, including several confirmed systems that may yield life or may have evidence of alien megastructures that have been constructed by extra-terrestrial intelligence.

One of the more intriguing discoveries is a star called KIC 8462852 or Tabby’s Star.

The more scientists learn about “Tabby’s Star,” the more mysterious the bizarre object gets. Newly analyzed observations by NASA’s planet-hunting Kepler space telescope show that the star KIC 8462852, whose occasional, dramatic dips in brightness still have astronomers baffled, is now dimming again.

“Tabby’s star” has dimmed like this several times before, prompting some researchers to suggest that the megastructures of an advanced alien civilization might be blocking its light.

The star is 300 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus.

KIC 8462852 was first noticed to be dipping in brightness at seemingly random intervals between 2011 and 2013 by NASA’s Kepler telescope. Kepler, launched to observe the stellar dimmings caused when an exoplanet passes in front of its star, revealed the dimming of Tabby’s star was much more erratic than a typical planetary transit. It was also more extreme, with its brightness sometimes dropping by as much as 20%. This was not the passage of a small circular planet, but of something much larger and more irregular.

The dips observed from Tabby’s Star are quite steep, which is something natural phenomena cannot easily account for.

Now think back to the Vatican revelation about the ancient manuscript and The Book of Two Ways where it states there is holy place in the stars that is protected by multiple gates and powerful extra-terrestrial guardians.

What if the gates and guardians are metaphors for megastructures constructed by extra-terrestrial beings?

Two years ago it was announced that Tabby’s Star was acting in a peculiar manner and it was later proposed that this star had some sort of megastructure surrounding it.

This discovery has now generated a controversial theory that what is out there is a Dyson Sphere or a Dyson Swarm which is quite literally a shell of protection in order to preserve and or use the energy from the star.

A Dyson Sphere is a hypothetical megastructure that completely encompasses a star and hence captures most or all of its power output. It was first described by Olaf Stapledon in his science fiction novel, “Star Maker.”

The concept was later popularly adopted by Freeman Dyson. Dyson speculated such structures would be the logical consequence of the long-term survival and escalating energy needs of a technological civilization, and proposed that searching for evidence of the existence of such structures might lead to the detection of advanced intelligent extra-terrestrial life.

As this star’s intensity dips again the idea of an advanced extraterrestrial race constructing an outer shell around a star is promising; however, there is yet another opportunity to study another alien artifact that is set to pass near the earth this summer.

A mysterious object, 1991 VG, which has left scientists scratching their heads since it was first discovered by astronomer James Scotti in November 6, 1991, will pass Earth in the summer of 2017. Based on its unusual features and properties, some scientists considered 1991 VG a candidate object in the ongoing search for an alien spacecraft or probe in our solar system at the time it was first discovered.

Scotti discovered the mysterious, small, fast moving space object with unusual features in November 1991 while searching the skies for asteroids at the University of Arizona’s Kitt Peak National observatory.

The object, only about 10 meters in diameter, exhibited strange properties that raised the astronomer’s suspicion. It moved faster than expected for a space object its size and had an unusually fast rate of rotation. It also exhibited an anomalous pattern of brightness variation that suggested it was not an ordinary main-belt asteroid.

Scotti tracked the mysterious object for two nights, collecting data needed to plot its orbit. He was surprised to find that it had a heliocentric orbit strikingly similar to Earth’s. He was also surprised to find that it was due to brush past Earth at a distance of 280,000 miles the following month and that it had already passed close to Earth at least once in the past. Data plotting 1991 VG’s orbital trajectory showed that it passed Earth around March 1975.

In short, 1991 VG’s combination of properties and features suggested to Scotti and his colleagues that it could be an artificial object built by someone and launched to space. But although the scientists admitted frankly that 1991 VG could be an alien spacecraft or probe operating in our solar system, they were unwilling to concede the suggestion without overwhelming evidence supporting it.

I guess as it moves closer to our earth we will witness more proof of possible artificial structures and or probes passing by our planet that could very well confirm observance by and extra-terrestrial civilization.

Meanwhile, sounds from space have generated headlines around the world and once again scientists are trying to comprehend just what they are listening too.

Researchers have wondered about the source of fast radio bursts, or FRBs, since they discovered the strange, powerful blasts of radio light in the skies in 2007. Each burst lasts for just a fraction of a second but releases more energy in that time than the sun will radiate in 10,000 years. A recent study speculated that these bursts could come from radio transmitters used to propel aliens across the skies.

There have been many sounds that have been detected that really have no explanation and that have remained unknown for some time.

They appear to be artificial in origin, according to new studies, and could be coming from a gigantic radio transmitter built by intelligent aliens.

By the time the radio waves arrive at our telescopes, the shorter waves arrive just before the longer ones. By measuring the time delay between the short waves and the longer ones, astronomers can work out how much matter a given burst has travelled through on its journey from whatever made it, to our telescope.

When I held a panel discussion with Jacques Vallee, Linda Moulten Howe, Mike Bara, Michael Salla and John DeSouza at the gathering for Contact in the Desert, I stated that we no longer need to ask for disclosure when religion and science is giving us conformation.

People seeking “disclosure” seem to think it is for our own good. They think that learning the truth will put us on the path to free energy machines, miraculous health cures and all sorts of other New Age ideas that sound good in a pink fuzzy way, but end up dying when faced with the truth. The truth may be that the phenomenon is not easily put in a box and disclosure will most definitely not happen in the way we seem to think it will.

There are many things in government that are known as “Core Secrets.” Allegedly, Core Secrets are only given to the President on a “Need to Know Basis.” That means, some Intelligence the President knows nothing about. From what is indicated in several intelligence reports, the President does not know the “core secret” of the alien presence. He only knows what you and I probably have been privileged to learn from Ground Truth Documents that are seen by very select few, and they hold the secrets.

There is no automatic clearance for access to any doomsday scenario provided to the President. If the President makes a speech or if he does disclose the alien presence, it will be disclosed directly from Intelligence and even then, that information is highly-suspect and carefully planned and thought out to prevent mass hysteria from the general public. All core intelligence information is protected, even if it is bogus. The reasoning smacks of dark creepiness.

Core intelligence is always somehow linked to all “doomsday blueprint” Intelligence cores. Core intelligence that would reveal an alien presence, possible alien intervention and alien attack and or invasion eventually arrives at the possibility of planetary annihilation. It unfortunately seems like some pseudo-religious scorched earth scenario where civilization must perish to protect itself from an alien threat. This is one possibility as to why full objective disclosure cannot happen.

There has always been the worry that religions would crumble if an alien presence was revealed but surprisingly of all things, religion and beliefs in a higher being may not receive a big cosmic dent after all according to experts.

We have all heard the speculation that aliens are fallen angels and they will convince us to worship them as gods.

The Bible, Koran and other sacred texts of the world’s major religions stress God’s special concern for humanity and for Earth. So the discovery of aliens, microbes on Mars, or signals from an intelligent civilization in another solar system, might seem threatening by implying we and our planet aren’t all that special.

However, we have to keep in mind that religious faith remains strong in much of the world despite scientific advances showing that Earth is not the center of the universe, and that our planet’s organisms were not created in their present form but rather evolved over billions of years. So it’s likely that religion would also weather any storms caused by the detection of E.T., researchers say.

Furthermore, the news that we’re not alone in the universe likely wouldn’t come as a huge shock, because large numbers of people around the world already believe that extra-terrestrials are out there somewhere.

Astronnomers Find First Evidence Of Possible Moon Outside Our Solar System

Using NASA’s Hubble and Kepler space telescopes, astronomers have uncovered tantalizing evidence of what could be the first discovery of a moon orbiting a planet outside our solar system.

This moon candidate, which is 8,000 light-years from Earth in the Cygnus constellation, orbits a gas-giant planet that, in turn, orbits a star called Kepler-1625. Researchers caution that the moon hypothesis is tentative and must be confirmed by follow-up Hubble observations.

“This intriguing finding shows how NASA’s missions work together to uncover incredible mysteries in our cosmos,” said Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator of NASA’s Science Mission Directorate at Headquarters, Washington. “If confirmed, this finding could completely shake up our understanding of how moons are formed and what they can be made of.”

Since moons outside our solar system – known as exomoons – cannot be imaged directly, their presence is inferred when they pass in front of a star, momentarily dimming its light. Such an event is called a transit, and has been used to detect many of the exoplanets cataloged to date.

However, exomoons are harder to detect than exoplanets because they are smaller than their companion planet, and so their transit signal is weaker when plotted on a light curve that measures the duration of the planet crossing and the amount of momentary dimming. Exomoons also shift position with each transit because the moon is orbiting the planet.

In search of exomoons, Alex Teachey and David Kipping, astronomers at Columbia University in New York, analyzed data from 284 Kepler-discovered planets that were in comparatively wide orbits, longer than 30 days, around their host star. The researchers found one instance in planet Kepler-1625b, of a transit signature with intriguing anomalies, suggesting the presence of a moon.

“We saw little deviations and wobbles in the light curve that caught our attention,” Kipping said.NASA’s Hubble and Kepler space telescopes have uncovered what could be the first exomoon.

Based upon their findings, the team spent 40 hours making observations with Hubble to study the planet intensively – also using the transit method – obtaining more precise data on the dips of light. Scientists monitored the planet before and during its 19-hour transit across the face of the star. After the transit ended, Hubble detected a second, and much smaller, decrease in the star’s brightness approximately 3.5 hours later. This small decrease is consistent with a gravitationally-bound moon trailing the planet, much like a dog following after its owner. Unfortunately, the scheduled Hubble observations ended before the complete transit of the candidate moon could be measured and its existence confirmed.

In addition to this dip in light, Hubble provided supporting evidence for the moon hypothesis by finding the planet transit occurring more than an hour earlier than predicted. This is consistent with a planet and moon orbiting a common center of gravity that would cause the planet to wobble from its predicted location, much the way Earth wobbles as our Moon orbits it.

The researchers note the planetary wobble could be caused by the gravitational pull of a hypothetical second planet in the system, rather than a moon. While Kepler has not detected a second planet in the system, it could be that the planet is there, but not detectable using Kepler’s techniques.

“A companion moon is the simplest and most natural explanation for the second dip in the light curve and the orbit-timing deviation,” Kipping explained. “It was definitely a shocking moment to see that Hubble light curve, my heart started beating a little faster as I kept looking at that signature. But we knew our job was to keep a level head and essentially assume it was bogus, testing every conceivable way in which the data could be tricking us.”

In a paper published in the journal Science Advances, the scientists report the candidate moon is unusually large – potentially comparable to Neptune. Such large moons do not exist in our own solar system. The researchers say this may yield new insights into the development of planetary systems and may cause experts to revisit theories of how moons form around planets.

The moon candidate is estimated to be only 1.5 percent the mass of its companion planet, and the planet is estimated to be several times the mass of Jupiter. This mass-ratio is similar to the one between Earth and the Moon. In the case of the Earth-Moon system and the Pluto-Charon system, the moons are thought to be created through dust leftover after rocky planetary collisions. However, Kepler-1625b and its possible satellite are gaseous and not rocky, so the moon may have formed through a different process.

Researchers note that if this is indeed a moon, both it and its host planet lie within their star’s habitable zone, where moderate temperatures allow for the existence of liquid water on any solid planetary surface. However, both bodies are considered to be gaseous and, therefore, unsuitable for life as we know it.

Future searches for exomoons, in general, will target Jupiter-size planets that are farther from their star than Earth is from the Sun. The ideal candidate planets hosting moons are in wide orbits, with long and infrequent transit times. In this search, a moon would have been among the easiest to detect because of its large size. Currently, there are just a handful of such planets in the Kepler database. Whether future observations confirm the existence of the Kepler-1625b moon, NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope will be used to find candidate moons around other planets, with much greater detail than Kepler.

“We can expect to see really tiny moons with Webb,” Teachey said.

Homemade Booby Traps: Enter At Your Own Risk- Setting Up Any Of The Following Traps In And Around Your Home Is Highly Illegal. These Examples Are For Illustrative Purposes ONLY To Prepare You For SHTF

A survivalist homemade booby trap is a device intended to automatically detect, scare, injure or kill.

To protect your homestead from unsuspecting threats.

For our purposes, a threat is anyone trying to enter our property or homes without your permission.

Thieves, bandits, gangs, etc.

During times of normalcy, it’s essential to keep the booby traps to the non-lethal, non-threatening sort. Simple alarm trip wires and such.

Yet, when SHTF…all bets are off…

So we will first cover 2 alert based traps.

Then several outdoor homemade booby traps and finally share a few home entrance booby traps.

Remember: In order for any of these booby traps to work, they must be discreet and out of sight of its intended victim.

Alarm Trip Wires and Booby Traps

Your current focus should be on traps that alert you to intruders.

Traps that allow you to either hide, fight or get away.

1 – The Air Horn Trip Wire Booby Trap

First up is an air horn alarm tripwire.

This is a perfect setup to detect if anyone is attempting to sneak onto your property.

2 – The Explosive Trip Wire Booby Trap

Next up is another alarm based booby trap but uses explosives to create both noise and a flash.

3 – The Sound Grenade Booby Trap

And here’s a third way to set up a perimeter alarm system.

This one is my personal favorite and extremely simple to set up.

First, pick up a few of these new Sound Grenades.

Tie a thin natural colored tripwire to either end and then around nearby trees. This setup will pull the pin on the Sound Grenade. Once the Sound Grenades pin is pulled it will emit an ear piercing 130 dB siren.

Half the battle to defending your home is to be aware when a threat is present.

One of the biggest challenges to SHTF home defense is getting sound sleep. This is no easy task with the constant threat of an ambush.

Placing these tripwires around your property will allow you some much-needed sleep. Because you can rely on them to wake you at the first indication of a trespasser.

Now that you’ve got your alarm booby traps set…it’s time to plan the next level of traps.

Note: Setting up any of the following traps in and around your home is highly illegal.  These examples are for illustrative purposes ONLY to prepare you for SHTF.

Property Booby Traps

4 – The Swinging Log Trap

This booby trap is ideal if you own property with mature trees to work with.

You should use natural obstacles on your properties perimeter to channel threats into a single location (using tall fences, bushes, etc) then add this trap at that location.

5 – The Spring Spear Trap

You can hide this booby trap in a lot of locations on your property.

It can be made much larger if so desired. Obviously, a larger device would create more damage and harm.

6 – The Rock Swing with Spikes Booby Trap

The rock swing with spikes is a simple booby trap to make and would be effective.

Hang this booby trap up high on a tree branch with a tripwire trigger. This device will swing down with speed and injury anybody in its path.

Even if it doesn’t hit its intended target, it would be an excellent deterrent.

Why? Because when someone sees this booby trap swing past them they will think twice about continuing.

Rock Fall With Spikes

7 – The Log Swing With Spikes Trap

Similar to the previous booby trap we covered, but even more lethal.

The wider the log, the less chance of missing the intended target.

Spiked Log

8 – The Spike Pit Booby Traps

You can dig hidden pits in strategic locations on your property. These can be either large or small.

Smaller pits would injure feet when stepped in while larger ones could be deadly.

Home Defense Booby Traps

If it’s truly SHTF and an intruder makes it past the alarm trips wires.

If he somehow avoids your property booby traps, then you’ll need to rely on some home defense traps set up on your home entrances.

9 – The Simple But Effect Nail Spikes

Nail spikes are easy to make burglar traps and can be used at every entrance location.

These work best when hidden from plain view and can be set up on front porches or outside beneath lower level windows.

Homemade Booby Traps Nail Spikes

10 – Electrocution Window Sills and Door Knobs

Using large batteries and a bit of copper wire you can electrically charge anything metal.

If you set this booby trap up correctly, then anyone who grabs the doorknob or metal window sill will get a nice shock.

The more electrical juice, the bigger the shock.

Here’s a video of this concept done as a prank, but its application for home defense purposes is legit.

Main Entrance Homemade Booby Traps

11 – The Chemical Bucket Drop

Here’s another simple booby trap to set up.

Use a bucket (or old paint can) and add some nasty chemicals to it.

Then position the can above a door on a floating shelf with a wire tied to the can. When the door opens, the can tips, and the chemicals fall onto the intruder.

12 – The Shot Gun Booby Trap

The trigger of a shotgun is set up with the action of opening a door.

The shotgun must be mounted securely for this to work. This is an extremely illegal and deadly booby trap.

It’s not something you should set up under normal circumstances.

Shot Gun Booby Trap

Obviously, you won’t find any videos of this setup in action.

However, here’s a good prank video that gives you an idea of how this booby trap setup would work.

13 – The Ear Piercing Door Stop Alarm

Everyone should have alarm systems at their main entrance locations; front door and back door.

But nobody wants to spend a crazy amount of money on an alarm system and that’s before the monitoring fees.

14 – The Guard Dog

While not technically a homemade booby trap, having a loyal guard dog is another badass way to deter intruders.

The sight and sound of an attacking German Sheppard will keep most sane people away.

Action Steps To Setting Up Your Homemade Booby Traps

  • Research: Familiarize yourself with what makes a good booby trap and easy to make booby traps. Learn how to make booby traps out of household items.
  • Materials: You can get the alarm materials. Purchase the best materials for your homemade booby trap to make them more effective.
  • Layout: Locate the ideal placements for your booby traps.
  • Practice: Practice making several of these booby traps and test them to ensure they work correctly.

Every survivalist should be prepared to make these homemade traps, but don’t stop there. When SHTF there will be millions of people looking for food, water, and shelter. You need to be prepared to defend what’s yours.

But not only should you booby trap your property, it’s also essential that you learn all the home security and defense measures.

I know the booby traps we covered today are some of the best and most effective ones to defend your property and your home. Yet, that’s only the beginning.

To truly protect and defend what’s your’s you need a comprehensive home security game plan.

A plan that robbers, thieves, and enemy assailants hope you never learn.

Why 90% Of The Population Would Die Without Electricity? Are You One Of The 10%?

Experts predict that an EMP strike that wipes out electricity across the nation would ultimately lead to the demise of up to 90% of the population. However, this figure begs an important question: if we were able to live thousands of years without even the concept of electricity, why would we suddenly all die without it?

While it may seem as if going without electricity would be nothing but an unfortunate inconvenience, the truth is much more harrowing. To better understand why 90% of the population would die if the lights went out, consider the following ways in which losing electricity would impact our society.

No Electricity Means No Water

Almost no one in the United States still carries a bucket to a well to draw up water. What this means, though, is that our water sources are now dependent on electricity. If an EMP strikes, the vast majority of the population would lose access to fresh water as soon as the water towers run dry.

Some people would be able to find other sources, but many would not. For those without water, the length of their lifespan would be measured in days.

No Electricity Means No Food

Those who are able to find water sources not dependent on electrical power now have another concern: food. Almost everyone who lives in an urban location is completely dependent on markets and grocery stores for their food supply. Even those who live in rural locations are largely, if not completely, dependent on buying food from outside sources.

However, if the electricity goes out, the supermarkets are going to be looted and possibly never restocked. From transportation to refrigeration, to even the growing of the food itself, our entire system of keeping the population fed is reliant on electricity.

Sure, there will be small farmers who are able to feed small amounts of people nearby, and there will be those who are able to adapt and grow their own food, but an alarming number of people would starve to death in a matter of months.

No Electricity Means No Climate Control

Some areas of the United States, such as Minnesota in the winter and Arizona in the summer, are only habitable because of climate control. If not for indoor heating and cooling, these places wouldn’t have been inhabited by so many people.

Once indoor heating and cooling disappear, surviving during the hottest and coldest times of the year will become a real problem. Some people would relocate or figure out a way to get by, but many who are unable would die of heat stroke or freeze to death.

No Electricity Means No Modern Medicine

Think of all the things that used to kill so many people before modern medicine. From polio to a ruptured appendix, there are countless things that once would have been fatal that are now either treatable or wiped out.

Modern medicine, however, is entirely dependent on electricity. Without it, all of these things would come roaring back with a vengeance. Hospitals that didn’t close their doors would lose a large majority of their effectiveness without all the machines they rely on.

Meanwhile, pharmaceutical companies would be unable to produce the wide array of prescription drugs that are keeping so many people alive.

To make matters worse, the fact that access to fresh water would be greatly diminished means sanitation would become a real problem. Without proper sanitation, diseases would spread at an exponential rate. Due to these factors, no electricity means far more sick people and fewer ways to treat them.

No Electricity Means More Murders

Within days of the electricity going out, our society is almost guaranteed to collapse into chaos. If you aren’t convinced that would happen, just look at what happens when a natural disaster devastates just a single area of the US, then multiply that by the entire country. Looters would quickly steal anything they could get their hands on, and armed gangs would roam the streets.

Law enforcement would clash with them at first, but they would almost certainly be overwhelmed in little time at all. The chaos would cause people who were once law-abiding citizens to turn to crime, and the number of criminals law enforcement would have to deal with would go through the roof.

In addition, effective law enforcement is largely dependent on good communication and teamwork – both things that become a lot more difficult in a world without electricity.

All of this is to say that, without electricity, going outside your home would suddenly become a much more dangerous endeavor. Those who are able to avoid starvation, dehydration, disease, and death by the elements would constantly have to look over their shoulders to avoid being killed. It’s not a pretty picture of human nature, but it’s a grim reality.

How to Avoid Being One of the 90%

As you’re probably well aware by now, surviving in a world without electricity would be a very tall order. The fact that a single detonation could devastate us so completely is disconcerting, to say the least, which is why many of the nation’s top defense experts agree that an EMP is the most troubling threat we would face if we ever went to war with a country that was able to hit us with one.

That said, 90% of the population dying without electricity means that 10% will make it, and a little preparation will go a long way toward ensuring you and your family are one of the 10%. Start by making sure you have access to food and water supplies that are not dependent on electricity, and stockpile all the medical supplies you can.

If you live in an area where climate control is necessary for survival, either plan for an alternative way to heat or cool your home or put together a bug out bag and be prepared to leave fast. Lastly, make sure to lay low and avoid going out unless absolutely necessary.

Surviving without electricity certainly wouldn’t be easy, and the threat of an EMP is one that should not be taken lightly. However, it can be done.

24 Lost Survival Tips From 100 Years Ago – With Illustrations

When we’ll have no running water, no hyperactive emergency services, no electricity… we are going to turn back to what people did 100 years ago. Here you’ll find some “little” survival tricks popular in the early 1900’s and (some of them) useful even today.

100 years ago Gallaher Ltd printed a short “How-To” series, with clever hints for emergency situations. The cards were distributed with packs of cigarettes. All the pictures bellow are part of the George Arents Collection, The New York Public Library. Please enjoy the article.

Here’s just a glimpse of what you’ll find in The Lost Ways:

You’ll discover the lost remedies used by our ancestors for centuries. And I’m not talking about rare and complicated insights that only a botanist knows. I’m talking about plants that grow in your backyard or around your house. Very common weeds.

For example, I’m sure you’ve already seen this plant…

1. How to Extract a Splinter

6

Take a wide mouthed bottle and fill it with hot water nearly to the brim. Now press the affected hand or foot tightly against the mouth of the bottle.

This will then cause a suction and pull the flesh down. The suction plus the steam will help pull out the splinter.

2. How to Make an Emergency Water Filter

A handy and efficient water filter can be made out of an ordinary bucket.

First make a hole at the bottom of the bucket.

Instructions: “The water percolates through the layers of fine and coarse sand, and clean picked gravel and stones, with which the pail is filled, filtering through to the bottom in a clear state.”

3. How to Engrave on a Knife

2

This method was widely used during the Middle Ages and all the engravings in swords or armors. Here are some armors engraved using this traditional way

Instructions: “The steel to be worked upon should be covered completely with a coating of beeswax. The lettering or design to be engraved can then be drawn with the point of a clean quill pen. This lays bare the metal. A strong solution of sulphate of iron should then be repeatedly poured over the exposed surface for about ten minutes. The more prolonged the action of the sulphate the deeper will the steel be engraved.”

Although is good to know, probably none of us will make these old fashion extinguishers since is much easier to buy one. And because the new ones are more effective (I guess) and definitely safer.

Dissolve one pound of salt and half a pound of salt-ammoniac into two quarts of water. Then bottle the liquid in thin glass bottles holding about a quart each.

Should a fire break out, dash one or more bottles into the flames, and any serious outbreak will probably be averted.

5. How to Purify Water in a Cistern

1

Easy! Stir in a tablespoon of powdered alum.

After 30 minutes the alum cause the particles and the bacteria to bound together and cause them to drop to the bottom leaving a clear purified water.

A tablespoon or half an ounce of alum will purify from sixteen to twenty gallons of water.

6. How to Treat an Animal Bite

First tight a ligature round the limb above the wound. This will stop a little bit the bleeding and it will give you a better visibility to evaluate the wound.

The next advice given back then was: “Thoroughly cleanse the wound and if there is any suspicion of madness in the attacking animal the place should be well sucked and cauterized with luna caustic, or a white hot iron, after cutting away the surrounding flesh with a sharp clean knife.”

The advice was really good for that time, when there were no vaccines. And even today doctors recommend thoroughly washing the wound as soon as possible with soap and water for approximately five minutes (to reduce the number of rabies particles). Povidone iodine or alcohol is then recommended to reduce the virus further. When SHTF and we’ll no longer be able to access vaccines this is your only option available.

Here are 23 survival uses for honey that you didn’t knowabout.

7. How to Detect Escaping Gas

Gas leaks can be caused by faulty appliances, or by those that have been incorrectly installed or poorly maintained.

Some of us don’t even use gas anymore (like me) or some may have gas detectors, but either way, after an earthquake, or a hurricane or a tornado there will always be gas leaks.

This 100 years old method is risk free and quite reliable.

“Paint strong soap solution on the suspected length of pipe and the gas will then cause bubbles at the escaping point, which can be dealt with at once.”

8. How to Light a Match in the Wind

10

Instructions: “The familiar difficulty of lighting a match in the wind can be to a great extent overcome if thin shavings are first cut on the match towards its striking end, as shown in the picture.

On lighting the match, the curled strips catch fire at once; the flame is stronger and has a better chance.”

9. How to Find a Lost Trail

If a trail is lost, there isn’t much to do but to search for it.

A very good way to do that is to mark the last foot-print or sign you notice as the center of the circle and go round it at a distance of anything from 30 to 100 yards.

The trail should be discovered somewhere crossing the circular track you are following.

10. How to Cure Chilblains

“A simple and homely remedy, which immediately relieves the irritation and pain caused by chilblains, is salt and fresh apple juice.

The affected parts are rubbed gently with a slice of apple dipped in common salt. A good juicy apple should be used.”

11. How to Secure Loose Hammers and Axe Heads

12

After wedging the handle of hammer as tight as possible, drill two holes at the end of wood and drive in two large screws.

An axe-head can be secured by boring a hole through the haft just bellow head and wiring through the hole and over top.

The wire should be twisted and staple driven into a hold position.

12. How to Tell the Points of the Compass with a Watch

compass

Take the watch of your hand. Point the hour hand at the sun and then lay a piece of wire or a blade of grass crosswise between the hour hand and the figure twelve.

The end of the wire between the twelve and the hour hand points south.

Preparedness Hacks: Once a nuke is heading your way, you might think that there isn’t much left to do, but you would be wrong!

Because we will show you America’s natural nuclear bunkers that are also EMP proof. When the sirens start wailing, all you need to do is pick the closest one to your home, where you can take cover before it hits.

13. A Simple Cure for Catarrh

13

Treatment for catarrh may not be necessary because it often disappears within a few days, after your body has fought off the infection. But in some cases it doesn’t go away and it can be a health problem, especially for the underfed. In food crisis when people are poorly fed, these low-risk diseases kill more people than starvation itself.

Instructions: “Take a pinch of ordinary table salt up the nostrils, just as you would a pinch of snuff.

Then gargle the mouth and throat with warm water, being careful not to swallow it.

Do this each morning before breakfast.”

14. Three Useful Knots

15

No. 1 is the Timber Hitch, which is especially useful in lifting all kinds of heavy work, such as huge beams.

No. 2, the Fisherman’s Knot, shows a good method of joining two ropes tightly together.

No. 3 is the famous Clove Hitch, which becomes tighter the harder it is pulled.

15. How to Bandage a Foot

A traditional method used to make the inflammation heal faster (especially for sprain ankles) was to place a leaf of cabbage between the bandage and the ankle.

In the picture: “Rest injured foot on operator’s knee on a clear towel.

Commence bandaging in manner shown by the lower diagram, the bandage being bound over and round the back of foot in spiral fashion, and eventually fixed by means of a safety pin, just beneath ankle, as shown in upper illustration.”

16. How to Make Roller Bandages

17

Instructions: “A roller bandage must be rolled evenly and tightly, so in the absence of a machine a chair will serve this purpose.

The picture illustrates procedure. Whilst one person carefully rolls another pulls tight opposite end of the bandage, and at the same time sees that no folds or creases are allowed to form.”

17. How to Fell a Tree

Having decided which side you wish the tree to fall, cut alternatively a downward and inward cut as you can see in the picture – in this order.

When about half through, proceed to cut the other side a few inches higher, and finally pull tree down with the help of a rope.

In a survival situation (and not only) you can use trees for their nutritious sap.

18. How to Build a Simple Shelter

22

Instructions: “A simple shelter can be made by driving two forked sticks into the ground and connecting these by a pole resting on them.

Branches are then laid resting on the pole. The right angle should be around 45 degrees, and the screen fitted up with smaller branches, ferns, etc.”

19. How to Make a Water Fountain for Chickens

Instructions: “A simple water fountain, ensuring a supply of fresh water for the chickens, can be made from a pint wine bottle, supported by wire loops to a wooden upright as shown.

The bottle is inverted over an earthenware pan, with the mouth of the bottle about half an inch above the bottom of pan.”

I see that now there are even some “rodent resistant chicken feeders” which can be used together with the water fountain if you leave for 2-3 days.

20. How to Remove Foreign Particles from the Eye

7

Few things are more irritating than having something in the eye.

“Drop sweet or castor oil into the corner of the eye. Picture shows a ready method of allowing drop of oil to fall into eye from the poim of a paint brush.”

If the particle is of mortar or lime, bathe eye with weak vinegar and water.

21. How to Make a Chair to Cross a Stream

If your group has one or more people who cannot (maybe there are wounded) or don’t know how to swim, you might want to find a simple solution to help him cross a river. If there are nearby trees – and usually near rivers there are – all you need is a rope.

Fasten a strong rope to a tree and let somebody (who can swim) go across the stream and fasten the other end to a tree on an opposite bank.

Use another rope to improvise a chair fastening it into a running loop. “By means of a light rope fastened to the middle of (the) chair and held by someone at each end, those unable to swim are safely passed over.”

22. Keeping Plants Watered While Away on Holiday

There are many simple and cheap DIY tricks to keep your green friends properly hydrated so that you don’t return home to a house full of wilting and yellowing plants.

A traditional method is to fill a large bucket with water, and place it a little above the level of the plants.

You can group round or near as many plants as you want. Place one end of a strand of wool in the bucket and the other one to the plant.

You can place as many yarns as you want.

23. Rescue from Fire

24

If it is necessary to enter a burning house in a search of unconscious persons, or to save a family member, first place a wet bandage over your nose and mouth and crawl in on all fours. You do this because the only Oxigen you may find is on close to the floor. (and the visibility is better)

Place a rope around his ankles. The other end of the rope around your chest or shoulders.

Then turn your back on him and drag him out. (you’re going on all fours with rope underneath)

24. How to Preserve Eggs

14

Preserve only eggs that are newly laid. Bury them in a box of salt.

This traditional way of keeping eggs has been almost forgotten. The eggs last about an year when they are totally buried in the salt. No air whatever must be allowed to get at the shells.

This way you’ll have eggs and salt for survival.

25. How to Treat Sprains

Elevate the injured joint and wrap in cloths wrung out in cold water. The picture shows how to keep the cloths constantly wet without having to change them.

Place a jug of water higher than the injured limb and a strip of linen with one end in the jug and the other end resting upon the wrapping of sprained joint.

The water will pass from the jug to compress keeping it constantly wet and cold.

Definitely, a hundred years ago people knew how to do a lot of things – that we now take for granted. Learning how to do stuff on your own is one of the most important things that one can do to prepare… And in time of crisis he might be able to support and sustain his family without much outside aid. This is one of the things that I’ve learned from a well-known army officer vet Steve Walker, for whom I have all the respect in the world.

Martial Law under a government with bad intentions can have devastating consequences. Is history about to repeat itself and will we face a violent enactment of martial law in the years ahead?

Martial Law under a government with bad intentions can have devastating consequences. Is history about to repeat itself and will we face a violent enactment of martial law in the years ahead?

Here are 10 ways to fool the authorities and escape with your life and family.A violent and horrifying life in a concentration camp is what you may face one day under martial law.

We’re not talking about a regional or short term enactment of martial law. We’re talking about martial law under a government with an agenda to root out and destroy any elements that are not in line with their specific agenda.

How many Jews learned the hard way in World War II that the Nazis hated Jews and wanted to exterminate them?

In a government collapse following any number of disastrous events that might befall a nation, we can bet that the next government to come to power in this day and age will need force, and a lot of it, in order to quell a rebellious people.

Force shows power and overwhelming violence spreads fear across a population. And there’s no better way to show force and enact fear into a people than to violently enforce martial law.

Making Sense of All These Cyberattacks

In World War 2, the Nazis set out to conquer Europe; it was part of the Nazi agenda before World War 2 ever began.

If it’s going to happen to us, we can bet that extensive planning and military operations that include secret government agents, computer hacking, weapons smuggling, and covert alliances are already taking place.

At the end, who will be the governing party that will enact martial law? It won’t be under an American flag. Not the flag of our founding fathers that is. Don’t get me wrong. The American flag may still fly — but if it does fly, it’s going to be dwarfed by a larger flag with any number of national or foreign symbols poised above it.

Dump Any Device That Contain The Words ”Smart” Or ”I”

Your smartphone can be tracked even if GPS, location services are turned off. According to Princeton researchers, the smartphone user wouldn’t even know their phone was being tracked.

  • Smartphones’ locations can still be tracked, even if all location services and GPS have been turned off. — Princeton, 2018
  • A security exploit uses a mix of phone and non-phone information sources to track a device’s location, suggesting your location may not be as secure as you thought. — Princeton, 2018

Smartphones can still be tracked even if location services and GPS are turned off, according to Princeton University researchers.

The team—Arsalan Mosenia, Xiaoliang Dai, Prateek Mittal, and Niraj Jha—combined information from phone-based and non-phone sources to determine a device’s location. The technique, called PinMe, shows it is possible to track a location even if the location services, GPS, and Wi-Fi are turned off.

Data used to track the device include the phone’s time zone and information from its sensors, like air pressure, a Princeton press release said. When mixed with public information like maps, a device’s location can be estimated without location services.

Since the sources that produce this data don’t require user permission to operate and only collect a small amount of data, the method is “virtually undetectable,” the release said.

Dumping all this devices will increase your chances to avoid being caught.

Escaping Martial Law

1. Run, Don’t Walk, Run

With death bearing down on your community, on your neighborhood, on your front door, it’s better to make a hasty retreat for the countryside than to wait too long and find out the hard way … that you waited too long to evacuate.

From the countryside, you can hide safely under the cover of the forest, and make plans and preparations for the next leg of your journey.

A large number of Jews were able to escape the Nazis by fleeing into the forests, surviving the weather and foraging for food (or just handouts of free food), and eventually escaping. Sometimes they had the help of “underground” elements, resistance fighters and their supporters.

2. Seek Cover and Stay Camouflaged

Jews who waited too long to evacuate, or moved too slowly, or didn’t do a good job hiding out, were rounded up, or simply shot where they were found. The key to not being found is to:

– Stay under cover (you don’t want to be spottedfrom a drone, helicopter, or plane circling in the air)

– Avoid “line of sight” (position yourself so that your path of travel isn’t visible to anyone scouring the land with binoculars; trees and tall brush can provide concealment from every direction; avoid meadows and open spaces).

– Be ready to belly crawl … slowly (not getting caught is of utmost importance; be ready to drop to your belly and crawl on all fours, stomach and head low to the ground, and move at a snail’s pace; moving extremely slow will help you avoid snapping twigs and also avoid shaking the brush or tall grass around you, movement which can give away your position to anyone close by).

– Be patient (if you have any questions or suspicions about a possible searching party trying to track your position, be ready to stop moving completely and simply lay right where you are for the next several hours — until the cover of dark perhaps — or when you feel it’s safe to start moving again).

– Hide well off trail (the further you can get from any noticeable trail to hide, or just to sleep, the better; if these are just soldiers acting on orders, they may not be too excited about slogging through a swamp or wetland, or climbing a steep hill of dense brush, which brings us to…)

3. Choose the Path of MOST Resistance

From your starting point, what is the hardest way into the wilderness? What has the most brush, the steepest gully, that is still passable? If authorities are not right on your tail, and you have a head start, consider taking a path that no one in their right mind would be likely to take.

It might take you 30 minutes to climb a 200 yard hillside through the woods, but if that hillside climb puts you on a path off the beaten track, you can increase the odds that you’ll never be found, and that no one is going to follow the path you have taken.

4. Cover Your Tracks

Soldiers acting on authorities to round up evacuees might not be well trained (or have any real training) in tracking. That said, you should be cautious along whatever path you take not to leave signs of your presence, and especially not to leave signs revealing the direction you are traveling.

Signs to avoid are:

– Broken branches (avoid breaking branches; even twigs breaking off brush as you pass by are tell tale “white” signs pointing to your presence)

– Flattened grass (crawling through an open area of grass comes with a danger; you may leave a trail of flattened grass pointing in your direction of travel; if you have time, and you have to travel through grass, for a short distance into the grass, turn at repeated points, and use your hands to stand the grass back up, so that it’s no longer flattened and conceals your path of travel)

– Foot marks in damp soil (be ever cautious about open areas of soil, especially damp soil; damp soil is a fast way to leave a shoe print revealing your direction of travel; step cautiously over and around open areas of soil to avoid leaving shoe prints).

– Camp fires (smoke from camp fires can alert people from miles away to your location and ashes from a camp fire on the ground can tell trackers just how long it’s been since you were there; as much as possible, avoid any camp fires until you are a very safe distance away; keep them short, brief, and very small when you do need one)

– Litter (don’t drop anything to signal your presence, from an empty matchbook to a cigarette lighter to garbage from your food supplies; bury everything you don’t want well off trail where it won’t be found)

5. Fool Any Pursuers

So you plan on entering the woods near a highway? Cross to the other side of the highway and break a number of branches and clear a path of brush and create what looks like a trail leading in the opposite direction you actually plan to travel.

Continue forward along that false trail you’ve started, and leave additional signs giving pursuers the impression that is the direction you or others are traveling.

Now go back to your original planned starting point, perhaps “choosing the path of most resistance” (see above), and head off in the opposite direction.

Pull this off and you’ve just made a safe getaway and any pursuers will be shortly later on a wild goose chase leading to nowhere.

– Now is a great time to litter. Remember that rule above about avoiding littering — well there is a time to litter, and that is when you want to use litter as a way to fool pursuers into believing you went one direction, or crossed a river, when you actually doubled back and went another way.

Consider dropping an empty matchbook and arranging things to look like a temporary camp site.

In one area, urinate (or pour water) on the ground, and then make foot prints in the damp soil, that look like you are walking in a certain direction.

Got an old shirt? Cut a length of paracord and tie it securely to a rock, and then tie both to a shirt. Wrap the rock in the shirt and then throw both over a narrow river you have no intention to cross (choose a point in the river where it would be a dangerous crossing) so that the rock and shirt fall on the other side of the river where the shirt is visible to anyone searching from your side of the river (dunk your shirt in the water to give it more weight prior to your toss — it should travel a few feet further than it might if dry)

In a short while any pursuers who see your shirt may be fooled into thinking you crossed over the river. By the time they cross (if they are even able to cross, remember this is a fast point of the river we’re talking about) and discover the rock tied to your shirt, and possibly realize they’ve been fooled, you may be far off in a different direction.

Make it more believable by making foot prints in a damp area of sand or dirt near the river bank that point to the river.

6. Only Carry the Essentials

If you’re prepared, and in reality everyone should be prepared, you would have had a Bug Out Bag packed and ready to go, though a lighter weight Bug Out Bag may be called for if you find that you need to make a hasty retreat and have a tough road ahead of you.

What are some ways you can shed pounds from your backpack?

When it comes to the outdoors, it’s common for people to bring more changes of clothing than they actually need. The more time you spend in the outdoors, and the more time you spend on any treks of any real distance, you’ll realize that you can get by in the same set of clothing just fine. Having a second outfit you can wear as an additional layer is recommended, as evening temperatures can drop, and you don’t want to freeze. The point of all this is that too many outfits will only bulk up your bag and add extra weight and only slow down your travel time.

Additional ways to shed pounds —

– Avoid carrying a tent — instead, carry a simple waterproof bivy sack. A bivy sack is a thin yet rugged bag designed to fit over a sleeping bag and keep you sheltered from the elements.

– Carry less water into the wilderness (unless traveling through dry areas where natural water sources are few or non-existent for several miles at a time — then you’ll want to carry a lot more water than normal); be sure to have a plan for procuring drinking water along the way.

– Choose a smaller flashlight that takes smaller batteries (but always have a few extra)

– Cut your emergency candle in half (have a 55 hour emergency candle? Take a hacksaw to it, and cut it in half to 22.5 hours of burn time)

– Pack calorie-rich freeze dried food or light weight high calorie survival food and be prepared to go longer between meals

– Include a plan to snack on edible insects; some of you are squeamish at this idea — but edible insects can provide enough calories and help you get by for a few extra hours or even days at a time, adding time and distance to your escape from otherwise captivity and possible death in a concentration camp.

Right now your goal is to just get away — you can hunt, fish, and trap once you are dozens of miles away or more into a remote area.

– As you move along the forest floor and or along a rivers edge, be ready to collect edible plants, roots, nuts, and berries — but be careful, many are poisonous and not edible. It may be a lot easier for you to recognize edible insects and make do with these instead of risking your life with plants, roots, nuts, and berries found in the forest.

Remember, the wrong plant or berry can be a fast way to an early death. Foraging is a skill that today can be learned by reading books on foraging for wild plants, taking classes, and then practicing what you have learned so that you are ready for a survival situation.

7. Be Careful What You Tell People

If you come across strangers, keep details about your travels to yourself. Unless they’re part of your group, no need to share details just in case these strangers you’re talking with are soon after caught by authorities and give up your location.

What about tracking dogs?

While tracking dogs may be a threat for some evacuees, a large scale evacuation into the countryside is likely to leave authorities short handed and short on adequately trained canine teams.

8. Press On and Keep Traveling

Feel like there’s enough distance between you and them? Don’t take any chances and be ready to spend a few more days and even weeks traveling into remote areas. Better safe than sorry.

Hunting pressure and large numbers of evacuees fleeing into the wilderness in several regions of the country will send native wildlife fleeing for remote areas where there is a lot less human activity. It is these remote areas that the hunting is likely to be best — especially hunting for bigger game like deer, elk, antelope, and moose.

9. Seek Out Remote Wilderness

The difference between the World War 2 Jews vs survivors from a tyrannical government that may one day come to power today is that the Jews had allied nations that they could flee to. In fact many fled Europe completely and made it to the U.S. and of course millions had help being relocated to the present day nation of Israel in the years following World War 2.

If we have to run from a tyrannical government that one day comes to power and enactsmartial law, we may not have any allied nations to flee to at all, and so the only real way to survive long term may be to seek out remote wilderness far off the beaten track, well under the cover of forest (gotta hide from those drones), as well as lands shielded by mountains (where there’s no roads, there’s no easy way for armies to move enemy soldiers in and out, putting the odds of escaping the clutches of tyranny and martial law in your favor).

10. Teach the Children

While the history books are being re-written by the new powers that be, while the White House lays in ruin and Lady Liberty is just a scattered mountain of debris and a face laying horizontally across the ground, there will be one book that stands the test of time, with a history that can and should be passed on to children. There may be a lot of debate and some people swear by it and others swear against it — but only in the last pages of the Bible and the many prophecies concerning the End of Days will any of this ever make any sense.

There are several more details on survival when it comes to martial law and being forced into a life of living off the land and living off what you and your family can carry on your backs. Unfortunately, this isn’t fiction and it’s something that has occurred more and more in recent years.

Refugees in war torn nations (do I need to make a list?) and other nations struck by catastrophic disasters (Haiti, for example) have sent survivors fleeing for the countryside or simply living in the ruins of their towns and villages and large tent cities that have bred crime and corruption along with dangers to women and children — and the fathers and brothers who would otherwise seek to protect them.

Conclusion

In war torn nations in the modern day, and regions turned to ruins by natural disasters, many have died from starvation and disease, and others from drinking contaminated water; others have fallen victim to gangs or been killed by rogue armies that have come to power, perhaps enforcing their own version of martial law.

It is a certainty that martial law will come to the US soon and will be followed by UK, Canada and the Western Nations. Best to be ready and not caught off guard, when  the day comes that martial law is implemented .

Perhaps Jesus said it best when he said:

“Be on guard, so that your hearts will not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that day will not come on you suddenly like a trap; for it will come upon all those who dwell on the face of all the earth. But keep on the alert at all times, praying that you may have the strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.” – Luke 21:34-3.

The First 19 Foods You Should Stockpile For Disaster

A good stockpile of food will go a long way toward helping you survive the aftermath of any disaster or life crisis, especially when grocery stores are emptied.

Here are 23 survival uses for honey that you didn’t knowabout.

In fact, I’d go so far as to say that there are people who are not preppers who nevertheless instinctively know to stockpile food. This really isn’t surprising when you consider that through most of mankind’s history, stockpiling food was essential to survival — specifically surviving the winter months. During those months, wildlife is bedded down trying to stay warm and plants are dormant. If one didn’t have a good stockpile of food, their chances of survival were pretty darn slim.

But knowing to stockpile food and knowing what to stockpile are two different things. The vast majority of what the average American family eats is unsuitable for stockpiling, because it falls into one of three categories:

  • Junk food – Lots of carbs, lots of sugar, lots of salt and lots of chemicals, but not much nutrition.
  • Fresh food – Foods that won’t keep without refrigeration.
  • Frozen food – It will begin to spoil within two days of losing electrical power.

So we need to come up with other foods — foods that will give us a lot of nutrition and also have the ability to be stored for a prolonged period of time. Here are what we consider the 19 most important ones:

1. Beans – This is one of the more common survival foods. Not only are beans plentiful and cheap, but they provide a lot of protein — something that’s hard to find without meat.

2. White rice – The perfect companion to beans. An excellent source of carbohydrates, and it stores well. [Note: Don’t store brown rice, which contains oils and will spoil.]

3. Canned vegetables – A good way of adding micro-nutrients to your survival diet. Canned goods keep well, long past the expiration date on the label.

4. Canned fruit – For something sweet, adding canned fruit allows you a nice change of diet. Being canned, they keep as well as the vegetables do.

5. Canned meats – Of all the ways of preserving meat, canning is the most secure in protecting the meat from decomposition. While it doesn’t typically have as good a flavor as fresh meat, it still provides animal protein at the most reasonable price you’ll find.

6. Honey – As long as you can keep the ants out of it, honey keeps forever. Plus, it is beneficial during cold season.

7. Salt – Nature’s preservative. Most means of preserving foods require the use of salt. In addition, our bodies need to consume salt for survival.

8. Pasta products – Pasta is a great source of carbohydrates, allowing you a lot of variety in your cooing. Besides that, it’s a great comfort food for kids. Who doesn’t like spaghetti?

9. Spaghetti sauce – Obviously, you need this to go with the pasta. But it is also great for hiding the flavor of things your family doesn’t like to eat. Pretty much anything, with spaghetti sauce on it, tastes like Italian food — whether you’re talking about some sort of unusual vegetable or a raccoon that you caught pilfering from your garden.

10. Jerky – While expensive to buy, jerky is pure meat, with only the addition of spices. Its high salt content allows it to store well, making it a great survival food. It can be reconstituted by adding it to soups and allowing it to cook.

11. Peanut butter – Another great source of protein and another great comfort food, especially for the kiddies. It might be a good idea to stockpile some jelly to go with it.

12. Wheat flour – For baking, especially baking bread. Bread is an important source of carbohydrates for most Americans. Flour also allows you to shake up the diet with the occasional batch of cookies or a cake.

13. Baking powder & baking soda – Also for making the bread, cookies or cakes.

14. Bouillon – Otherwise known as “soup starter,” this allows you to make the broth without having to boil bones on the stove for hours. Soups will probably be an important part of anyone’s diet in a survival situation, as they allow you to eat almost anything. Just throw it together in a pot and you’ve got soup.

15. Water – We don’t want to forget to stockpile a good supply of water. You’ll go through much more than you expect. Experts recommend a minimum of one gallon per person per day, but remember: That’s just for drinking.

16. Whole-wheat –Crackers are a good replacement for bread and make a fine substitute when making sandwiches. Due to their higher fat content, whole-wheat or whole-grain crackers have a shorter shelf life than their plain counterparts (check the box for expiration dates), but the extra fiber pays off when you’re particularly hungry. Consider vacuum-packing your crackers to prolong their freshness.

The Hidden Secrets Of Making Herbal Medicines … Right At Your Fingertips!

17. Nuts and trail mixes – Stock up on these high-energy foods—they’re healthful and convenient for snacking. Look for vacuum-packed containers, which prevent the nuts from oxidizing and losing their freshness.

18. Powdered milk –Almost all dairy products require refrigeration, so stock this substitute for an excellent source of calcium and vitamin D when fresh milk isn’t an option.

19.Multivitamins –Supplements will help replace the nutrients you would have consumed on a normal diet.

While this doesn’t constitute a complete list of every type of food that you should stockpile, it’s a good starting point. You’ll want more variety than this, but in reality, your family can survive for quite a while with just the 15 things on this list.

As your stockpile grows, add variety to it. One way of doing that is to create a three-week menu, with the idea of repeating that menu over and over. If you have everything you need to cook everything on that menu, you’ll have a fair assortment of food, and enough so that your family shouldn’t grow tired of it.

10 Basic Foods To Rely On For Survival

If you’re only preparing foods to survive, it doesn’t have to be fancy but it does need to be safe and nutritious.

Some foods aren’t nutrient-dense but they are packed with carbs that will give you energy to keep going.  You need to learn how to prepare these foods BEFORE SHTF. Today we’re going to talk about some basic foods that you need to know how to prepare for survival.

Bread and Biscuits

Though bread and biscuits aren’t necessarily nutrient-dense, they arelight to carry and provide a quick source of carbs.

They also help other foods such as meats go a bit further toward filling your belly. You can stretch your valuable food supply by knowing how to combine flour, butter, milk and salt to make biscuits.

Plus, once you know how to make biscuits, you can get fancy by adding fruits, spices (cinnamon is awesome in a biscuit!), vegetables (my favorite is a bit of jalapeno pepper) or sugar to spice them up.Here are 23 survival uses for honey that you didn’t knowabout.

Add some yeast and sugar and you can make bread, too.

Gravy

Gravy is another one of those foods that will help you fill bellies and stretch your food supply. All you need is fat, flour, salt, pepper and water or milk. I personally like to start my gravy by adding water to the browned flour to get the base going, then add some milk to make it creamy but in a pinch it can be made with just water. Or, if you have a cow but a limited supply of water, you can always use just milk.

Butter

Homemade butter

Butter is a good source of fat in a survival situation. Considering how easy it is to make and how easy it will be to barter, knowing how to make butter in a survival situation is a no-brainer. All you need to do is skim the cream from your milk and shake it in a jar. It helps if you let the cream sit out for a few hours. Then you just put it in a jar and shake it.

You’ll notice chunks forming, then you’ll see it forming a solid clump. Once you have the solid clump, stop shaking. Pour the contents of the jar through a cheesecloth or linen towel then rinse the butter under cool water. Put the butter in a bowl. Don’t throw away the juice – that’s buttermilk and it makes excellent biscuits and pancakes.

Using a wooden spoon or flat spatula, work the butter around in the bowl so that you press the rest of the liquid out of it. Once you have all of the liquid out of it, add salt to taste and you’re done. You can also use a butter churn if you have one to make larger batches.

Jerky

Jerky is light and is a great source of protein. It’s easy to carry and lasts for a week or two after you make it if you don’t preserve it as long as you prepare it properly.

Slice the meat as thin as you can get it, season it with your choice of seasonings or marinade and hang it to dry over a fire, assuming you don’t have power. You can even dry it in the sun if it’s hot and sunny enough but you need to start in the morning.

Flour

If SHTF, you may not have a source of flour. If you have access to wheat or nuts, you can make your own flour by using a hand mill or a mortar and pestle, though the latter isn’t a great choice because it takes so long. Remember that homemade flour will still have the oils from the nuts or seeds that it’s made from so it will go rancid fairly quickly.

Milk

Milking goat

There are a couple of different kinds of milk that people consider palatable; cow milk and goat milk.

Regardless of which one you choose (or have access to), you need to follow proper sanitation procedures in order to keep bacteria from making you or your family sick.

Wash the udders well and use clean pails. Strain the milk before you drink it.

If you want to go a step further, you can pasteurize it by heating it to 161 degrees for 15 seconds.

Cheese

making cheese

Cheese is a good source of protein even if you’re a lacto-vegetarian. You can make a simple cheese from milk by adding a bit of acid such as vinegar or lemon juice. The important part here is that you need to find the right ratio of milk to acid.

Too much milk and it won’t curdle. Too much acid and it will be tart. Just bring your high-fat milk (you can add cream if you’d like) to just below a simmer, using low heat, then add in the acid and some salt.

You’ll see it instantly separate into curds of cheese and whey, the liquid part. Strain these out by placing it in a cheesecloth or linen towel then squeeze the rest of the whey out. You have a smooth cheese similar to ricotta. If you want it firmer, squeeze it a bit more then chunk it up and add some cream and salt to it and you have cottage cheese.

If you want it a bit firmer, place it in a linen cloth and press it for a couple of hours between two plates with a weight on top. This results in cheese that has a feta consistency. Press it like this overnight and you’ll have cheese firm enough to cut into cubes. You can always spice it up any way that you’d like before pressing it.

For Vegetarians

Without a doubt, food on the fly will require some advance preparation if you’re a vegetarian. You can dehydrate fruits for carbohydrates and can vegetables for more nutrition. If you’re a lacto-vegetarian, biscuits are a good source of carbs, too. If you have access to nuts, you can make nut butters. Beans are going to be a staple for you too, so dry or buy plenty for your stockpile.

Rendered Fat

rendered fat

This process can be a bit stinky but the rendered fat will come in handy in a variety of ways. You can use it to cook with or to waterproof your clothing. It’s a bit of a process but will be worth it.

Pemmican

Pemmican was used by Native Americans for centuries as a near-perfect combination of protein, fat and carbohydrates. It’s energy-dense and it takes your body a while to digest it so it’s a good source of long-term energy. You make it simply by using equal parts (use weight, not volume) of dried meat, rendered fat and dried berries.

Pulverize the dried meat and berries into minced portions, almost a powder. Add a handful of the fat and start working it in to the meat and berries. Continue mixing the fat in until you have everything mixed thoroughly and it’s sort of dough-like.

If you have chunks of fat left, continue kneading until it melts into the mixture. Separate out into balls about the size of ping-pong balls and store in an air-tight container. As long as the meat was dried completely and the fat was rendered properly, you don’t need to refrigerate pemmican. Eat is in small portions though because it IS energy-dense. You don’t need much of it to survive and even thrive.

There are many foods that will serve you well in a survival situation but it’s important that you learn how to make them before you NEED to know how. If you have any other food that you think should be included on the list, tell us about it in the comments section below.

The Earth is not Flat, Part 1 (For Every Idea On Why Earth Might be Flat, There Is Physical Evidence That Proves Earth Is Definitely Globular)

Almost everyone knows that the Earth is a sphere. Someday, we’ll be able to  drop the “almost” from that sentence.  Unfortunately, today is not that day. Two different flat Earth societies have now raised enough money for billboards.  First, “The Infinite Plain Society” put up a billboard outside of Philidelphia that says “Research Flat Earth”. Soon afterwards, “The Flat Earth Society”, which somehow has over 80,000 likes on Facebook, probably not all of which are ironic, put up a billboard in Oklahoma that asks the question “Is the Earth flat?”

Just to be clear, the answer to this question is a very definitive “no”.

At UYBFS, we have written about the flat Earth people before. However, the billboards are a distressing new twist to this sad story. The folks at The Flat Earth Society are even claiming to be “persecuted” for their beliefs. “We get accused of being idiots, of doing it for money,” lamented Bob Knodel, a flat-Earther from Denver.

Everyone in this country has the right to “believe” what they want and flat Earthers have the right to talk about their theory too.  However, I think persecuted is the wrong word here. Flat Earth is not a religion, a way of life, or value system. It is a statement of implied fact: “I believe the Earth is flat.”

There is inherently no difference between this statement and saying “I believe that clouds are made of spaghetti”. Both are statements made implying that the author has weighed the available data and is drawing a conclusion. Not only are both wrong, but they are just as easily refuted. You can look up at the sky and see there is no spaghetti (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is just a movie), just like you can look at the literally millions of photographs of the Earth and see it is not flat. The willingness to believe that there is a massive conspiracy involving the fabrication of a moon landing, gravity, long distance flight and sea travel, satellite communications, and the millions of PICTURES of the Earth is not a value system to be protected. In fact, it demands action from those of us willing and able to educate.

We at UYBFS are not fans of calling people “idiots” – any adult person who possesses the mental capacity to hold a discussion about the shape of the Earth is inherently smart enough to understand the facts demonstrating that it is a sphere. The issue here is education, so let’s do some educating!

In the spirit of education, UYBFS will answer any and all “proofs” that the Earth is flat with actual science. We’ll do it point by point, starting with some of the most common “proofs” today and and continuing as long as needed until either we run out of proofs to refute or the billboards come down! If you know of any flat Earth proofs we have missed, please add to the comments below. If you actually think the Earth is flat, tell us why, and we can help set the record straight. Let’s do this!

PART I.  THE MOST OFTEN CITED FLAT EARTH PROOFS

1) The Horizon Proof. The horizon always appears flat except for the fake NASA photos. It’s even flat when seen from a plane.

This is an easy one to start. The problem here is one of perspective. The Earth is a very big sphere, so it is difficult to get high enough to see the curvature of the horizon. You have to be at least 35,000 feet above sea level to see this effect, which means there is no way you’ll ever see it from a mountain. Even in a plane, you need a pretty wide view of the horizon (meaning it’s hard to see it from a passenger window) and it helps to have a very clear day. You’ll find some good videos taken from planes clearly showing the Earth’s curvature here and here. Plus, here’s a picture taken from the cockpit of a plane at 40,00 feet:

But if you are talking to a flat Earther about this theory, you may run into the “those photos and videos are all fake, along with all the photos from space showing a round Earth” argument. Beyond the truly phenomenal logistical challenge of coordinating such a vast conspiracy, the feasibility of this argument collapses easily under this easy experiment that doesn’t require gaining access to the cockpit on a high-altitude flight:

Go to the beach. Preferably one near a busy harbor leading to the open ocean, and take a pair of binoculars. Bring sunscreen too – you may be there for a while. Find a large ship going out into the ocean (or just appearing on the horizon) and watch closely. You’ll notice that instead of just appearing or disappearing all at once (as would be expected on a flat Earth), at some point you will only be able to see the top of the ship before it disappears. This is because the horizon is curved, and the lower part of the ship will slip below the horizon before the top. Give it a try!

As a ship moves off on the horizon, you will notice that you loose sight of the hull before the top of the ship.

2) The Water Proof. If the Earth were round, rivers would have to flow uphill, and oceans would all move to the bottom of the globe.

This comes down to gravity. True flat Earthers don’t believe in gravity, because the flat Earth model is not compatible with our understanding of gravity – for numerous reasons that will become obvious as we go through each flat Earth proof. Gravity is a force that pulls objects with mass towards each other. The greater the objects mass, the stronger it’s gravitational pull. The Earth is big – it weighs around 5.9 septillion kilograms (that’s 24 zeros, it might interest you to know that we know this because of gravity – you can’t put the Earth on a scale). Because of this mass, it pulls smaller things towards it – you & I, buildings, cars, our atmosphere (gases have mass too!), the moon, and yes, water. Importantly, this gravitational pull is towards the center of the mass of an object – and so objects are pulled towards the center of the Earth. Since the earth is round, the gravity experienced by the water in rivers, lakes, and oceans is constant across the entire globe with two exceptions:

A) Inclines and declines created on the surface of the not completely smooth surface of the Earth. This is why rivers flow downhill – gravity!

B) Tides. In this case, the gravity from the Earth is uniform, but that rascally moon has sufficient gravity to give large bodies of water a pull too. The moon weighs 7.4 sextillion kg (22 zeros), which is 1/6th the size of the Earth, but it is over 230 million miles away, reducing it’s gravitational pull.

So what would happen if the Earth was flat? Water would be drawn towards the center of mass of the flat Earth – which would be somewhere towards the middle (depending on how uniformly thick the flat Earth would be). If you assume that gravity is real (try flying and tell me it’s not), then on a flat Earth, water would not always flow downhill – on the edges of the Earth it would flow towards the center. This is one of many reasons that gravity and flat Earth don’t mix.*

3) The Spinning Atmosphere Proof. If the Earth were round and spinning, things in the air would move in relation to the Earth. For instance, helicopters would just need to hover and wait for the Earth to spin underneath them to “move” or smoke would never move straight up – instead immediately appearing to move as the ground spins away. Also it would be impossible to make any progress by plane going against the rotation of the Earth.

We touched on the path to debunking this one in #2 above. The atmosphere has mass.  In total, it weighs about 4.9 quintillion kg (18 zeros). That’s a lot, but still much, much lighter than a similarly sized mass of liquids or solids. There is a very easy way to prove this by rapidly changing elevation in a car or a plane. At sea level, the mass of the atmosphere above you exerts 14.7 pounds per square inch (psi) on you. As you go up, there is less mass of atmosphere above you, and as a result less pressure. That reduction in pressure causes the air in your inner ear to expand as you go up, causing your ears to “pop”.

So when scientists say the Earth is spinning, they mean the whole Earth – including it’s atmosphere. The air above us is moving right along with us as the same speed – with the exception of wind currents which move relative to the surface of the Earth. So on a windless day, smoke will rise straight up until it hits the winds of the upper atmosphere. For their part, planes and helicopters will need to expend energy to move through the atmosphere, but they will not need to counter the rotation of the Earth, since the atmosphere they are flying through is moving the same way the Earth is. Make sense?

Here’s an easy way to show this works. Next time you are on a plane or a bus, sand up and jump. You’ll notice that you will land in the same spot that you took off from, despite the fact that you are traveling (in the case of a plane) at several hundred miles per hour. That’s because the air in your plane or bus is moving with you – it won’t push you back.

It is important to note that the rotation of the Earth does affect winds and ocean currents. This is another way we know the Earth is round. If the Earth wasn’t spinning, the atmosphere would circulate between the poles and the equator in a relatively straight line. However, because of the Earth’s rotation, atmospheric circulation (winds) and ocean currents are deflected, moving generally to the right north of the equator and to the left below the equator. This is called the Coriolis Effect, named after Gaspard Gustave de Coriolis, who died in 1843 knowing that the Earth was a sphere. In theory, the Coriolis Effect could cause the water in toilets in different hemispheres to drain in different directions. However, in practice, this is actually not true.

4) The Round Atmosphere Proof. If the earth is really a sphere, airplanes would fly off into space unless they adjusted their flight down.

This is a silly argument. Any pilot will tell you that maintaining level flight is not as simple as pointing the plane forward in a straight line and forgetting about it. There are down drafts, up drafts, turbulence, etc. Generally, a pilot maintains a level flight in one of two ways: by keeping the horizon in the same place relative to the nose of the plane, or by adjusting flight to keep a constant altitude according to an altitude gauge. Both methods will take into account the curvature of the Earth such that the plane will not go off into space. “Level” in the context of flight is literally defined by the curvature of the Earth.

In actual practice, it is impossible for planes to fly off into space anyway. First, since the atmosphere gets thinner as you get higher, the lift produced by the wings will eventually be too weak to keep the plane aloft – or at least to allow it to climb.  You can overcome this to some degree with very powerful engines, but there is also less oxygen in the upper atmosphere, and this makes the engines less efficient too. At some point, lift and thrust become limiting, and this defines the “ceiling” of a plane. Commercial airliners have a ceiling of about 45,000 feet – they can’t really go any higher. So you don’t have to worry about flying off into space the next time you fly out to see your friends in Las Vegas. You only have to worry about the hangover you’ll have on the way home.

5) The Lack of Motion Proof. If the Earth is spinning at 1000 miles per hour, how come I can’t feel it? Similar arguments are made about the movement of the solar system or universe through space. Also, why don’t we bounce around like in a car or plane?

We’ve covered that the atmosphere moves with the Earth, which is why it doesn’t feel like you are moving even though the Earth is spinning at 1000 miles an hour. The Earth doesn’t bounce around because it’s huge and traveling through the vacuum of space. Have you ever traveled on a large cruise ship or a really big plane (like an A380)?  These large boats and planes are way more stable and comfortable than smaller pleasure boats or commercial aircraft because of their size.  Well the Earth is about 1 quintillion times more massive than an A380.  A few gusts of solar wind aren’t going to cause it to bounce through space.

10 Weird Foods That Were Common During The Great Depression

The Great Depression, with all of its hardships, was one of the most prolific times in the history of the American diet. This period required homemakers to develop creative new ways to feed their families, sometimes for less than pennies a day. But as the economy improved and more Americans went back to work, many of these dinnertime staples simply faded out of style.

Yet they haven’t faded from memory. Here are 10 Great Depression foods that seemed strange and even weird at the time.

1. Prune Pudding

Prunes were a humble, inexpensive food source during the Depression. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt actually made headlines by pressuring her husband to eat prune pudding when guests came to the White House for a visit. Why prunes? They were easily stored and didn’t cost as much as other fresh fruits.

2. Dandelion salad

Foraging was not uncommon during the Great Depression, and it was easy and free to scavenge in the backyard for edible greens. Dandelions weren’t the only produce of choice; many Depression-era homesteaders also made soups or salads out of burdock root, wild onions and other weeds. Although dandelion salad is still popular in many cultures today, it’s typically accompanied by sweet or tangy ingredients to offset the bitterness of the plant.

3. Fish …. anything

Fishing was a popular pastime during this era, not just because it was an enjoyable way to spend a Sunday, but also because it put food on the table! A weekend fish fry would produce enough leftovers for the entire week. Bones, heads and tails could be used for soup or gravy stock.

4. Creamed chipped beef

This curious dish originated in Pennsylvania Dutch country and consisted of salted beef and milk. Any kind of beef-like meat could be used (cows were difficult and expensive to raise, so goats or wild game could also be used).

It was typically served on toast and became a staple for soldiers fighting overseas during World War II. Ever heard your grandparents talk about you-know-what on a shingle? This is it!

5. Ritz cracker crust

The purpose behind this crust has nothing to do with the crust itself, but what the buttery flavor of the Ritz crackers does for the apples. Apples were in short supply during the Depression, so the rich flavor of the crackers helped to supplement the limited apple flavor.

6. Spaghetti with boiled carrots

15 Weird Foods That Were Common During The Great Depression

Carrots were easy to grow in most homestead gardens during the Great Depression. As a result, spaghetti with boiled carrots—with the addition of a simple white sauce—was a heavily promoted, relatively nutritious dish in schools throughout the country.

7. Meatless loaf

When raising livestock was impractical or impossible, many Depression-era cooks turned to meatless loaves for sustenance. Made out of vegetarian ingredients such as peanuts, rice, cottage cheese and flour, these cakes were popular before tofu was even a thing. Here are 23 survival uses for honey that you didn’t knowabout.

8. Vinegar pie

As mentioned, fruits were in low supply and high demand during the Great Depression. During cold winter months, most families found themselves without any fruit at all. What to do about dessert? Many bakers added vinegar to a mixture of spices (such as cinnamon and cloves) and—if fortunate enough—butter or cream to create a low-cost version of a pie or cobbler.

9. Peanut butter stuffed onions

This dish was commonly suggested in newspapers and magazines as a nutritious and delicious recipe for any family’s table. Although the glop wasn’t popular for its taste, texture or nutritive qualities, it must have contributed to at least a small uptick in oral hygiene.

10. Kraft macaroni and cheese — wait, what?

James Lewis Kraft, the founder of Kraft foods, patented the process of emulsifying and powdering processed cheese in order to give it a longer shelf life—a necessity during this time period. Although the packaged dish was originally sold as a bag of pasta with a package of powdered cheese attached to it, it still exists today as one of the few Depression-era meals with lasting popularity in American households.

Making ends meet was tough during the Great Depression, but with some creative thinking and adventurous palates, these homesteaders made the most of whatever they were given.  Whether you’re planning meals for a large family or on your homestead, keep these tips in mind for ultimate success in living off the land.
